An old and unique Master’s programme (M.A.) in Economics was started in 1993-14 with 20 intakes which has increased to 40. The department is one of the oldest department in the college and in the city. It has successfully completed two decades in producing quality manpower by providing quality education. The PG Department of Economics provides sound theoretical background in the principles of economics and equips students with analytical tools and techniques for understanding the evolution of the world economy. Apart from preparing students for advanced research work, the programme also aims at training students as professional economists for the government, non‐government and the corporate sectors. The department has been providing a platform for students to expose their talent and to organize and participate in cocurricular and extra‐curricular activities like seminars, panel discussions on current issues and special lecture series by inviting eminent personalities. The Alumni of this course are well placed in business, academics and administration in the country and abroad. We have been securing 100% result with First Class with ranks in University level and many students have cleared NET, SLET exams.

Admission: To seek the admission in the course of M.A economics the following university regulations has to be full filled.

Eligibility: A candidate who has passed Bachelor’s degree with Economics as one of the subjects and has secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in that subject..

Duration of the Course: Two years consisting four semesters.

Students Strength: The College has been permitted to intake 40 students for this course. However 50% of the seats are filled by the university and remaining 50% of the seats will be filled by the management directly.

Brief Profile of Dr. Channaveere Gowda B.N,  Vice Principal and HOD, PG Dept. of Economics

cvg Dr. Channaveere Gowda B.N is a Post Graduate in Economics, M.Phil, MBA in Human Resource Management, PG Diploma in Personal Management and PhD in Economics from the University of Mysore. Dr. CV Gowda currently working as a Vice- Principal, Associate Professor and HOD in PG Dept of Economics at Vivekananda Institute of Management, Rajajinagar, Bengaluru. His areas of Specialization are in Agriculture and Agi Business Management, Managerial Economics, Health Economics and Human Resource Management. He has 17 years of teaching and Research experience at post graduate level M.A, MBA, M.Com and MHA.

Dr. Gowda has presented more than 40 research papers in national and international conferences and seminars with in the country and in abroad. He has also published one Book and more 40 research papers in national and international refereed peer journals.

Dr. Gowda is a Life member of Indian Economic Association, World Economic Association. He has also associated with various academic activities with Bangalore University,  Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, VTU, and autonomous and Deemed Universities. Dr. Gowda has dedicated himself in teaching and research.
